It’s time for something new : HSMAI Europe Student Council
It’s time for something new in hospitality. And you are invited to join us on our journey!
Starting from September 2021, HSMAI Europe will empower every hospitality student to practices strategy at the highest level. To underpin this ambition, we will launch an HSMAI Europe Student Council to facilitate students and young professionals’ growth by providing a platform for discussion across Europe’s best hospitality business schools.
Join us on Tuesday, June 1st, at 2 PM CET for the launch of this unique and unprecedented initiative. Professionals, professors, and – of course – students will present best practices of dealing with challenges and opportunities before, during, and after graduation.

Sascha Dalig – Regional Director Central Europe at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and member of the HSMAI Europe Customer & Distribution Advisory Board
Sascha is the Regional Director of Central Europe at Wyndham hotels and resorts. He is responsible of approximately 120 hotels ranging from budget to luxury hotels. He is also a proud member of the HSMAI Europe Customer & Distribution Advisory Board. With over 25 years of experience in hospitality, he has been an inspiration to many.
Josje van Dongen – Head of Innovation & Programme Specialisations at Hotel Management School Maastricht and Chair of the HSMAI Europe Innovation Advisory Board
Sound background in Senior Management, Innovation, and Marketing at multinationals like Ahold, The Body Shop (L’Oréal Group), her own company YART and Hotel Management School Maastricht. She is passionate about initiating, designing, branding, and transforming companies while being in charge of the whole process. She is attracted by strong values, driven people, outrageous goals, disruptive innovation, and creative energy.
Caroline Schelfhout – Coordinator Master Programmes at Hotelschool The Hague
Caroline Schelfhout is the programme coordinator of the MBA in International Hospitality Management and the brand-new Master of Arts in Leading Hotel Information. She has a vast background in hospitality education. With her experience in the admission office, involvement in student selection, and participation in the creation of the new master programme, she is an expert in anticipating students’ needs and guiding them in the process of becoming young professionals.
Stephanie Pougnet – Ph.D Professor & Researcher at EHL Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne and Member of the HSMAI Europe People & Culture Advisory Board
Stéphanie Pougnet, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at EHL. She has experience teaching and practicing management in Europe, America and Asia, with a focus on retailing, energy and food & beverage industries. She affirms that research and teaching in management should consistently meet the needs of both the educational sphere and the work sphere. With this ambition in mind, Stéphanie fosters students’ employability and entrepreneurship via pedagogical missions that result in implementing systems, processes, and dashboards to capitalize on internship experiences as well as on experiential learning based on problem-solving. She conducts research and consultancy for companies facing human capital challenges, and she coaches entrepreneurs. As a skydiving and snowboarding entrepreneur, she co-founded www.sportmania.ch, a Swiss shop selling sport goods.
Emile Schelfhout – Chair of the HSMAI Europe Student Council
Emile is an MBA Graduate from Hotelschool The Hague. Before re-joining our industry, he will continue his studies at EDHEC Business School and follow the MSc programme in Corporate Finance and Banking. Driven by a passion for hospitality, Emile has been an active volunteer with HSMAI Europe. For the next few years, he will intensively support and lead the HSMAI Europe Student Council.
