‘Status Quo is a Prescription for Failure’

HSMAI Europe in cooperation with HSMAI Chapter Holland are happy to welcome you to an inspiring meeting with us in Amsterdam Wednesday April 23rd at Doubletree by Hiltonæ(next to Central Station).æ We are very honored to welcome the speaker for the day Mr. Michael (Mike) Leven.

Mike is a longtime industry leader former international president of HSMAI a past inductee into the HSMAI Hall of Fame and has been previously named one of HSMAI’s “Top 25 Most Extraordinary Minds in Sales & Marketing.” Prior to his current position Leven served as the COO of Holiday Inn Worldwide and the president of Days Inn of America.

He started his career in hotel sales at the Roosevelt Hotel in 1963. His sales excellence earned him sales and marketing leadership roles with Sonesta Dunfey/Omni Hotels and Americana Hotels. His leadership subsequently earned him the president role at Americana Hotels Days Inns of America and Holiday Inns Worldwide. He founded US Franchise Systems which was subsequently sold to Hyatt Hotels. Mr. Leven also served as the opening CEO of the Georgia Aquarium and as vice chairman of the Marcus Foundation a philanthropic organization founded by Bernie Marcus co-founder of The Home Depot Inc. He was also a co-founder of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) and served on multiple boards. His most recent position as the president and chief operation officer of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation leveraged his sales and leadership skills to turnaround the largest hotel gaming company in the world. Mr. Leven holds a Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University and a Master of Science from Boston University.

HSMAI Americaæannual Leadership conference was renamed in his honor last year as the HSMAI Mike Leven Leadership Conference. His generous support of this conference through the Mike and Andrea Leven Foundation with 15 million dollarægreatly assists our overall mission to help the Hospitality and travel industry fuel sales inspire marketing and optimize revenue.
