Steigenberger Hotel Group

Q: What does a day at work consist of for you?
A:æI start my day (if I am at the office) by having a coffee and looking at the daily report with the results of our hotels. I spend time in meetings with my department heads for Key Account Leisure MICE and International Sales or with colleagues from other departments like E-Business Marketing HR etc. On most days I have conference calls with one or several of our General Managers to discuss their sales needs and setup necessary actions with my team. And of course I do meet with key clients and try to get their business for all Hotels of Steigenberger Hotel Group.
Q: What’s the best part of your job?
A:æGetting to know many interesting people from all over the world! Over the years I have found a lot of close friends which I would have never met without this job. I love to travel and this is an important part of my role especially as Steigenberger Hotel Group is growing rapidly in international markets.
Q: Do you have anyone you’ve looked up to?
A:æDefinitely Steve Jobs who had a great vision never gave up changed our world and created one of the most powerful brands on earth.
Q: Do you have any nice traditions at your office?
A:æNot at our office but we have two events every year since decades which are always wonderful: Our ‘ìITB-Kitchen-Party’ and the ‘ìChristmas-Tree-cutting’ in December here in Frankfurt.
Q: How long have you been a member of HSMAI?
A:æI have signed a HSMAI Europe Corporateæmembership this year after I attended as a delegate at my first conference of HSMAI Europe and experienced the high quality that was delivered there.
Q: What do you think is the best thing about HSMAI?
A:æFor me HSMAI is a fantastic resource of expertise for the whole Hospitality Industry.
Q: Are there any activities or projects you think HSMAI should start up?
A:æIntensify the efforts to spread the word about HSMAI in Europe even more so more people from our industry have the opportunity to learn about HSMAI and it’s programs.
Q: Describe your perfect weekend.
A:æA perfect weekend is to spend quality time with my wife and my kids in our beautiful garden without my mobile emails meetings and presentations. 🙂
Q: If you were trapped on a desert island what would you take with you if you could choose just one thing?
A:æA really tricky question. My first thought was to bring my wife with me but if I would call her a ‘ìthing’ I would be in big trouble… So I would rather choose a picture of my family.
Q: What is the title of the book about your life?
A:æThe glass is always half full but also think about adding ice’_
Q: What is your next travel destination?
A:æSorrento and the beautiful Amalfi coast in Italy for our summer vacation.
Q: Do you have any special hobbies?
A:æI am a big fan of all kinds of motorsports. I love skiing in the winter reading a good book and having a good glas of wine in the evening.
Q: Thank you for your time. Do you have any personal comments?
A:æI am really excited to start the Sales Executive Advisory Board and thank you HSMAI Europe and my CEO Puneet Chhatwal for this great opportunity. I hope that many sales leaders and colleagues from the Hotel and Travel Industry will join me in developing the best education and content for our sales people.
