January in London

Today I had a long and productive meeting with Debbie Male, Head of Sales Europe at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Member of the HSMAI Europe Sales Advisory Board at the InterContinental London Park Lane. In addition, we were joined by two of the staff members at the hotel for parts of the meeting, Steven Sheridan, Director of Sales and Husein Khoja, Groups and M&E Manager. See photo above.

The agendas for all the European events in London on January 25 and 26 are coming together.
Here are some of the topics we will be focusing on over the two days:

  • Future of Account Management/Sales
    • We will be discussing the future of account management/sales in the Hospitality industry. This is an important discussion to have because of the changes to traditional selling practices
  • How do we attract new talent into our industry
    • Price and products (not just bedrooms)
    • Flexibility and ease of booking (and cancelling)
    • In which shop window (distribution)
    • What new shop window (distribution)
  • Future trends detection analysis for the different segments
  • Hotel marketing teams have been reduced – how to prioritise areas to focus on?
  • Work more efficiently and leverage technology that can help
  • Maximising revenue on a reduced marketing budget
  • Tool box with the new skill set hospitality marketers need in 2022 (strategic)
  • Tool box with the new skill set hospitality marketers need in 2022 (new graduates)
  • Using data to produce relevant reporting that identifies where action needs to be taken
  • How to align your brand with the aspirations of your target audience today
  • Creative ideas from outside the hospitality industry – what can hotels and others learn from the innovators elsewhere?

We will make sure we have enough time to network and to share ideas. On Tuesday evening we will be handing out awards.

HSMAI has also invited the new HSMAI Europe Student Council to take part in our events for the two days. Make sure you and your team will be there too.

More information on the programme and how to sign up will be sent out in less than two weeks.

Have a wonderful weekend!
