MORE ABOUT THE RISING LEADER COUNCILS

HSMAI is committed to cultivating the next generation of industry leaders. In Europe, HSMAI have seated Rising Leader Councils in 3 core disciplines. Each Council will be a professional development and advocacy group, comprised of up-and-coming professionals working in a mix of roles within each discipline. The Councils will provide unique opportunities for emerging professionals to advance their skill sets, network with peers, and contribute to HSMAI and the industry via their insights, feedback, and thought leadership.

The Rising Leaders Council comprises of different types of leaders with different backgrounds who have excelled in their roles. Some prefer to work at corporate level, whilst others may wish to use the combination of their skills and experiences as General Managers or in other leadership roles. Whatever their chosen paths, we must continue to motivate them so they will remain in our industry.

In terms of what the councils will be working on we will complete a short survey when we have all the councils’ members onboard as members, so we are sure we all meet the expectations with the Rising Leader Council Workgroups. In the meantime, here is what we think could be of interest per councils:

Workgroup Initiatives

  • Create the workgroup mission statement
  • Identify action items – what does the workgroup want to accomplish and how does the workgroup plan to achieve those goals?
  • Provide workgroup updates on monthly council calls

Ask yourselves….

  • What impact do you want to have on the workgroup’s topic?
  • How could this workgroup’s effort contribute to the industry?
  • What’s a tangible outcome?

Discuss end goals for the workgroup.

We have listed a few examples, but this list is not exhaustive and completely open to creativity. The sky’s the limit.
