HOSPITALITY BUSINESSES ENCOURAGED TO SHOWCASE SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS AS ENTRIES OPEN FOR HSMAI EUROPE AWARDS 2022

Introduction of new Sustainability Award follows partnership with D2O as part of HSMAI Europe’s sustainability taskforce

Entries for the popular HSMAI Europe Awards 2022 have opened, with hospitality professionals invited to enter 12 categories, including new categories.

The annual awards celebrate individual as well as company achievements across the hospitality industry. These recognise the people, teams and businesses driving industry change, from the most inspiring sales, marketing, and revenue management professionals to the best employer, branding, and technology initiatives. For the first time, the awards will also acknowledge key environmental and social achievements made by hospitality representatives.

The new HSMAI Europe Sustainability Award, sponsored by D2O – a leading provider of cloud-based sustainability and productivity management technology will focus on sustainability activities introduced by industry players over the last year. From campaigns that positively impact a wide range of sustainability factors, from poverty reduction and health to biodiversity and energy efficiency, the award is open to individuals, teams, and organisations.

Speaking about the importance of the new sustainability award, Ingunn Hofseth, President & CEO of HSMAI Europe, said:

Despite the challenges of the last few years, it’s clear that hospitality companies are embracing greener

ways of working and incorporating groundbreaking new technologies and meaningful sustainable

 initiatives into their business.

HSMAI Europe is delighted to be partnering with d2o and grateful for their support in introducing this important category. With their track-record in planning and predictive analytics software, we’re excited to have the opportunity to showcase some of the best practice examples and shine a light on some of the eco-friendly elements and industry heroes that are helping drive change across the hospitality sector.

Speaking about their involvement, Young N. Nguyen, Founder & CEO of d2o, said:

Working with HSMAI Europe on this award is the start of a longer-term relationship better to understand the industry’s challenges in the sustainability area and

help us make our PMI GoGreen platform in assisting hoteliers aligning their daily resource consumption with activity levels, which will result in reducing the carbon footprint.

We feel passionate about the need to restructure how we forecast, act, monitor and evaluate the way we do business to ensure a greener tomorrow. And we’re excited to be working with HSMAI Europe to showcase other best practice examples across the hospitality industry that are as good for operators and owners as our planet.

The industry has until 16 December 2022 to submit their award entries for the awards. The winners will be announced on 19 January 2023 at the Award Dinner at the HSMAI Europe’s annual Revenue Optimization Conference (ROC), set to take place at the InterContinental London Park Lane.
