Meet Nora Galfi
Former Director of Growth Marketing, Lighthouse, former vice-chair of the HSMAI Europe Rising Leaders Council (Belgium)
Tell us about your journey in hospitality so far – what drew you to the industry and keeps you passionate about it today?
I originally chose the hospitality industry because I thought it would allow me to travel the world. But looking back, I’ve realized that the true reason I was drawn to this field is the connections and the warm, welcoming environment it offers.
Growing up, our home was always full – family, friends, neighbors constantly coming and going. I loved it; there was always something happening, conversations flowing, beautiful stories being shared, and memories being made.
Not long ago, it hit me that this is exactly what I find in the hospitality industry too. For me, it will always be about the personal connections, the care you offer, and the empathy you’re able to channel through service.
What motivated you to join the HSMAI Europe Rising Leaders Council, and how has working alongside peers from other companies helped you expand your network and develop new perspectives?
I still remember how excited I was to be able to share professional experiences through the beautiful community that HSMAI Europe offers. Being a leading voice in the industry and helping others grow by giving back and sharing our experiences – that was what I hoped to achieve by becoming a member of the Rising Leaders Council.
And I’m happy to say that it’s definitely happening.
Connecting Future Leaders (CFL) events are an important part of HSMAI Europe; what’s been your most memorable takeaway or moment from one of these events?
The most memorable take-away is the glow you see on the fellow young leaders’ faces, the ability for them to connect, to share their experiences with like-minded people, and to grow together as one community.
What excites you most about the future of hospitality, and how do you see yourself contributing to that future?
”The future is bright. There is a clear shift happening in the industry now, given the speed at which technology is evolving and the need for the hospitality world to embrace it. My goal is to help bridge this transition and support hoteliers through effective change management – encouraging them to step confidently into the new world. I want them to rely on us young leaders, our skill sets, and our ability to move quickly with technological advancements to guide them toward a more profitable future, whilst preserving the heart of hospitality.
For young hotel and travel professionals who might be thinking, “Is this for me?” – what would you say to encourage them to get involved?
Just jump in – this is a world that can offer so many experiences, try it!
