Meet Fatima Patron

Hotel Manager at The Well, Member of the Connecting Future Leaders Committee Norway

Tell us about your journey in hospitality so far – what drew you to the industry and keeps you passionate about it today?

My journey in hospitality started long before I chose it as a career. When my parents bought a restaurant in the south of Sweden, they created the environment that shaped me. Some of my earliest memories are of guests chatting, food being prepared, and the feeling of warm service. Because of that, hospitality became a natural part of who I am.
As I grew older, I worked in different roles and learned what great service really means. I also discovered how much I love leadership and the impact a strong leader can have on both guests and the team. That passion still drives me today, to grow, to create moments that matter, and to give others the same feeling I grew up with.

What motivated you to join the Connecting Future Leaders Committee in Norway, and how has working alongside peers from other companies helped you expand your network and develop new perspectives?

I joined the Connecting Future Leaders Committee because I wanted to connect with other passionate young professionals and learn from their experiences. It felt like the perfect way to grow personally and professionally.

Connecting Future Leaders (CFL) events are an important part of HSMAI Europe; what’s been your most memorable takeaway or moment from one of these events?

One of my most memorable moments was the CFL event at Sommerro, where Eik Restaurants shared how they turned a simple idea into a successful concept. It was inspiring to hear about their journey. Flytoget’s presentation on their history and marketing strategy also stood out — it was a great example of strong brand building.

The mingling afterwards was another highlight. Meeting new people, exchanging experiences, and building real connections reminded me why CFL events are so valuable — it’s not just the knowledge shared, but the community you build.

What excites you most about the future of hospitality, and how do you see yourself contributing to that future?

I’m most excited about strengthening the human side of hospitality as technology becomes more dominant in the world. Even with AI and automation growing, nothing can replace real human connection, and I believe this will become even more important.

I want to help create environments where technology supports service without replacing personal attention. With my passion for leadership, I hope to build teams that keep the heart of hospitality alive — making guests feel seen, valued, and cared for.

For young hotel and travel professionals who might be thinking, “Is this for me?” – what would you say to encourage them to get involved?

I would tell them that hospitality is a place full of opportunities — for growth, creativity, and meaningful human connection. You learn skills that are valuable everywhere: leadership, communication, problem-solving, and understanding people.

It’s also an industry where you make a difference every day. If they enjoy working with others, want a dynamic career, and are curious about the world, then this industry is absolutely for them. Getting involved early can open doors they didn’t even know existed.
