Sum up of the FUTURE YOU event, March 11th in Oslo
Curious and interested young adults found their way to Odeon Cinema on Monday, March 11th to participate at HSMAI’s FUTURE YOU event. With an impressive lineup of speakers, stands from leading industry companies and colleges, and serving of pizza and refreshments, all participants had a pleasant introduction to career opportunities in the hotel, event, and travel industry.
The program consisted of inspiring lectures from the industry and other partners. Henning Friberg, Program Director at Kristiania University College, talked about Revenue Management and the tasks involved in this role, while Morten Malting, Director of Food and Beverage at Scandic Norway, discussed the rich role of a Restaurant Manager. Siri Løining, Concept and Development Manager at Gamle Deichmanske, shared her experiences in Marketing, while Julia Hauge Grøndahl, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development Specialist at Radisson Hotel Group, provided her best job-seeking tips. Tore Carlsson, Hotel Director at Clarion Hotel Oslo, gave us insight into the everyday life of a hotel manager, while Michael Wierling, Director HR, Northern Europe at IHG Hotels & Resorts, and leader of HSMAI Europe People & Culture Advisory Board, talked about his exciting international career journey in HR and beyond.
After the first session, held in the IMAX hall at ODEON, it was time for mingling, visiting stands, and enjoying pizza from Peppes and refreshments provided by Coca-Cola. Participants could then visit the stands of various hotel chains and colleges.
The event ended with a panel session featuring Josefine Janson, Director of Human Resources, Norway at Radisson Hotel Group, Morten Malting, Director of Food and Beverage at Scandic Norway, Helle Elverum Furre, a student at the Hotel School in Stavanger, and Syver Wiik, a student at Kristiania University College.
