Merry Christmas!

As we are about to go on holiday for the season, we would like to share some good news with you before the festive season commences. The HSMAI Europe team has been working on our business plan for 2022 and 2023 and we have had good advice from our members along the way. We will share some of it with you today.

Peer-To-Peer

For the coming year, we have created many and regular opportunities for peer-to-peer exchanges. Virtual, face to face, local, regional, in and across groups of stakeholders.

Attracting talent and becoming the “go to” industry resource for the next generation

HSMAI Europe aims to become a key Influencer to attract talent and become the “go to “ industry resource and contact point for the next generation. Five of the very best hotel schools and universities are already confirmed as organizational HSMAI Europe members and will join this very important initiative for the industry, as well as for the hotel schools and their students.

These are:

  • EHL – Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland
  • SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern, Switzerland
  • Breda University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands
  • ESSEC – IMHI, France
  • Hotel Management School Maastricht, Netherlands

The hotel schools, represented by one of their leaders, will be offered a seat on our HSMAI Europe People & Culture Advisory Board.

Accor and IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG)

Hotel chains and other travel companies will be invited to join this initiative, and I am very happy to inform you that two of the global leading hotel chains have now already upgraded their membership to the highest level of involvement – to Diamond Organizational Members in Europe – and will be invited to be involved in the whole initiative. They will also have a seat on the People & Culture Advisory Board.

More schools will follow in 2022 and will be presented later.

Here are some of the activities HSMAI Europe has in stall for the younger generation and others in 2022:

We will establish the HSMAI Europe Student Council with ten schools in 2022, with visits to all of them. We will be inviting members to join us to share ideas and competence. Different formats for these will be tried out in 2022 and themed in agreement with the schools and the industry.

The Pan European Curate event will take place twice in 2022. First at ESSEC in Paris during the Spring and at EHL in Switzerland during the late autumn, with the purpose to ‘stimulate the students professional growth and create a sense of belonging within our magnificent hospitality industry’.

The Mike Leven Mentor Programme – We will also offer the HSMAI one-year mentor programme to HSMAI Europe members.

Young leaders Awards – in London in June.

Emerging Leaders – activities in a few cities for the ‘under 30’s’ starting in 2022.

Rising Leaders Councils – three in 2022 (Sales, Marketing, Revenue Optimization) for the ‘under 30’s’.

The Commercial Summer Camp – taking place for the second time next year in London in June.

More information about the Rising Leader Councils – Global Initiative by the HSMAI Foundation
This initiative will kickstart in two regions at the beginning of 2022, in Europe and the Americas, with three councils each for the following three disciplines: Sales, Marketing and Revenue Optimization. Rising Leader Councils are an opportunity to cultivate the next generation of industry leaders by providing a unique forum for emerging professionals to network with peers, share their career journey wisdom, advance their skill sets, shape the future of HSMAI and their members, and contribute to the industry. The Councils are intended to work closely with existing Advisory Boards to ensure the communication of industry-wide efforts and concerns, while creating a forum for rising leaders’ concerns to be heard.
