Per Griwell, Commercial Director, Business Development at Thon Hotels, has been elected Chair of the HSMAI Europe Advisory Board for the Nordic countries. He now wishes to bring in talented industry peers from all over the Nordic countries as members of HSMAI Europe.
The HSMAI Europe Advisory Board will be an important part of a strategic effort to support the members and the hospitality, travel and event industry in the Nordic countries, in the reopening after the pandemic.
“In close cooperation with HSMAI Europe, I look forward to establishing a Nordic network that offers knowledge and experience in the respective areas of expertise. The Nordic hotel market differs somewhat from the European market, and has a need to exchange experiences, especially during a period of post-panic reconstruction. HSMAI offers several forums and working groups to help you navigate today’s demanding challenges”, says Per Griwell.
Criteria for members of the HSMAI Europe Nordic Advisory Board:
- Must live and work in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden.
- Applicants must have a background from senior management, marketing or academics, within hospitality.
- Must have a strong interest to work with strengthening the tourism industry in the Nordic countries – also outside of their own organization.
HSMAI Europe aims to promote growth for hotels, event companies and the tourism industry as a whole and their partners, and is a leading industry resource for intelligent and sustainable revenue growth on a local, national and global level.

He has extensive industry experience from SAS in Sweden and has worked for the management of the renowned hotel chain Thon Hotels in Norway for nearly 20 years. Thon Hotels also have seven hotels in Belgium and one in the Netherlands. They are now expanding in the Nordic region, and Per is leading this expansion”, says Ingunn Hofseth, President & CEO of HSMAI Region Europe.
