Marking its debut in Portugal, the one-of-a-kind camp will bring together top academics and industry leaders to run a one-week education, knowledge-sharing and networking programme for sales, marketing and revenue management experts, as well as general managers

London, UK – April 11, 2023:HSMAI Europe, the European arm of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI), the industry’s leading advocate for intelligent, sustainable revenue growth globally, has joined forces with Portugal’s Nova School of Business & Economics, renowned internationally for its Economics, Finance and Management expertise, to offer hospitality professionals an exclusive commercial summer camp opportunity.

Bringing together the business school’s top academics and the hospitality industry’s greatest commercial minds, the one-week camp will provide unrivalled education, knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities for hotel sales, marketing and revenue management experts, as well as general managers from across Europe, with a high-level programme designed to take their careers to the next level.

A reinvention and enhancement of the commercial camp HSMAI launched in Amsterdam in 2019, the HSMAI Europe Summer Commercial Camp 2023 will be hosted in Portugal for the first time. It will take place from July 30 to August 4 at the Nova School of Business & Economics in Carcavelos, which recently became an HSMAI Europe organisational member as part of the association’s ambitious plans to ramp up pan-European membership in 2023.

A must-attend program, the camp is open to 30+ hospitality professionals looking to bolster their commercial acumen, with those already signed-up for this unique opportunity to upskill including representatives of some of Europe’s largest hotel groups.

The individual winners of the HSMAI Awards Europe 2022 in London following the ROC 2023 commercial conference, and individual winners of the HSMAI Awards Norway 2022 in Oslo in January recognising the Individual Achievement Awards, have also been invited to attend, with a complimentary confirmed place at the camp including hotel and travel, as a coveted awards prize.

“The HSMAI Europe Summer Commercial Camp 2023 provides savvy and aspirational hospitality professionals with a one-off opportunity to learn from the best – top academics specialising in management from the renowned Nova School of Business & Economics and hospitality’s finest commercial leaders, including HSMAI Europe Advisory Board members,”
said Ingunn Hofseth, President & CEO, HSMAI Region Europe.

“This exclusive one-week programme is carefully curated to create tomorrow’s commercial leaders, targeting sales, marketing and revenue management professionals, as well as property managers, who want to develop their cross-functional strategic thinking and leadership skills, based on a sound understanding of every discipline from distribution and commercial technology to branding, customer centricity, CRM, sales, and much more.”

She added:
“With talent acquisition and retention strategies in the spotlight now, more than ever, this is also a rare opportunity for hospitality companies to invest in the people it has identified as potential leaders, providing training as part of a robust career development programme.”

The HSMAI Summer Commercial Camp 2023 will kick-off with a welcome dinner for all attendees to get acquainted, followed by a two-day Leadership Development programme and three days of multi-disciplinary training.

The two-day Leadership Development programme, delivered by the Nova School of Business & Economics, will be split into micro-vision, focusing on how leaders should interact with their team and organisation, and macro-vision, considering leadership in an organisational concept, culminating with a reflection on leadership challenges identified by participants.

Topics covered will include positive leadership, building agile organisations, strategic leadership and servant leadership, with attendees challenged to understand the role of leadership, value drivers and good leadership practices, as well as to identify relevant KPIs and develop communication across their organisation.

The three days of multi-disciplinary training, delivered by experienced industry experts and leaders, is designed to help individuals enhance their knowledge and skills in commercial strategy, digital marketing, revenue optimisation and more.

Topics covered will include distribution strategy; commercial technology strategy; branding strategy; building commercial teams; customer centricity; data and CRM strategy; calculating ROI; sales theory, strategy and leadership; plus hands-on tips.

“Our speakers will offer coaching and guidance, while the opportunity meet like-minded professionals in this environment opens up a new network of invaluable support to attendees.”

said Hofseth.

“Attendees will be exposed to new ways of thinking that are important to grasp as a leader, which is not offered by any other programme. This is also a unique advantage of being an HSMAI member.”
