The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) recognized HSMAI’s swift response to the coronavirus pandemic and named it as one of the “100 Associations That Will Save the World.”

(McLean, VA, August 20, 2020) The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) has been listed as one of the “100 Associations That Will Save the World” by the American Society of Associations Executives (ASAE).

ASAE recognized HSMAI for its’ quick and comprehensive response to the coronavirus pandemic that included providing real-time data and educational opportunities to hospitality professionals who were impacted. The association has made a concerted effort to support hotel sales, marketing, and revenue optimization professionals during the pandemic and prepare them for recovery and the new normal.

“We are honored to be recognized as an ‘Association That Will Save the World,’” said Robert Gilbert, CHME, CHBA, president and CEO of HSMAI. “The hospitality industry has been hit particularly hard by the coronavirus pandemic. Our focus is on pivoting our educational offerings so HSMAI members and the greater hospitality community, can continue to access the resources that they need to reset and begin recovery.”

As part of pivoting educational experiences, HSMAI created ROC@Home, a day-long global revenue optimization experience that was designed to fuel industry recovery and revitalization efforts on June 17, 2020. ROC@Home gave hotel revenue professionals the opportunity to reset, refocus, and reenergize. The collaboration between HSMAI Regions in Asia Pacifc, Americas, Europe, and the Middle East engaged thousands of hotel industry professionals who downloaded an exclusive free toolkit. They had a chance to participate in more than 20 live expert-led sessions. Hotel CEO’s from 13 companies around the globe lauded the effort and provided a video message with their recommendation for revenue professionals.

In addition to the Recovery Resource Center that was launched in the early stages of the pandemic, HSMAI has hosted multiple c-level virtual executive roundtables to connect peer groups in marketing, sales, loyalty, revenue optimization, digital marketing, and human resources.

To honor the hospitality professionals who have taken a leadership position, championed a cause, or created a program that has directly benefited industry workers, medical personnel, first responders, or communities impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, HSMAI launched Hospitality Heroes, a new Adrian Awards honor. Ten heroes have been recognized to date and nominations are ongoing.

Most recently, HSMAI has developed a Road to Recovery 2020 fall education plan. The plan is designed to connect hospitality colleagues in a meaningful way while offering affordable programs and tools for hotel sales, marketing, and revenue optimization professionals. As the newest part of this approach, HSMAI is introducing Recovery Connections, a series of live webinars paired with small group discussions.
