Call for Rising Leaders Council members
HSMAI is committed to supporting the future generation of industry leaders. HSMAI Europe is expanding the Rising Leader Council. This council functions as a platform for professional development and advocacy, uniting ambitious young leaders and professionals from diverse roles and disciplines and helping them to continue their development.
The Council provides a unique opportunity for emerging professionals to advance their skill sets, network with peers, and contribute to HSMAI and the industry via their insights, feedback, and thought leadership. We are looking for candidates who are committed to further developing themselves and who also take pleasure in seeing others grow.
To be eligible, a candidate must:
- Be an emerging leader in their field of expertise (is not restricted to people managers)
- Be 35 years of age or younger (as of December 31, 2024)
- Have a minimum of three years in a hospitality sales, marketing, and/or revenue optimization or management position
- Be currently employed full time in a hospitality sales, marketing, and/or revenue optimization position or management position
- Maintain a current membership in HSMAI
- Commit to serving on the council for a two-year term
- Participate in one-hour virtual meetings several times per year (schedule to be determined by members of the council)
- Make every effort to attend a minimum of one-day face-to-face retreat each year (held in conjunction with HSMAI Europe ROC Conference in London).
The Rising Leaders Council comprises different types of leaders with different backgrounds who have excelled in their roles. Some prefer to work at corporate level, whilst others may wish to use the combination of their skills and experiences as General Managers or in other leadership roles. Whatever their chosen paths, we must continue to motivate them so they will remain in our industry.

Connecting Future Leaders events
Young professionals, 35 years or younger, in the hotel-, event- and travel industry are gathering through a series of local events called Connecting Future Leaders by HSMAI Europe. Connecting Future Leaders is a professional and social meeting point for the exchange of experience and networking in the hotel and travel industry.
